Utrecht

Utrecht is the real deal. Big student energy, cracking nightlife, and proper rugby. Cheaper, safer, and more authentic than Amsterdam — and home to the legendary Hilversum Festival.

Rugby Tours To Utrecht

Utrecht is one of the Netherlands’ great rugby cities and a fantastic base for any touring squad. Centrally located, you’re never far from the country’s most welcoming clubs, with fixtures available at every level. Dutch rugby is growing quickly, with well-run youth systems, competitive senior sides, and a real enthusiasm for hosting international visitors. Easter is a highlight of the calendar, when RC Hilversum host their famous International Youth Rugby Festival — a brilliant event that attracts touring teams from across Europe and beyond.

Away from the pitch, Utrecht is a gem. One of the country’s oldest cities, its medieval centre is full of winding canals, cobbled streets, and the towering Domtoren — climb to the top for panoramic squad photos. The university gives the city a youthful, buzzing atmosphere, with over 40,000 students driving a lively mix of restaurants, music bars, and cafés. It’s cheaper, safer, and more authentic than Amsterdam, but still delivers the same Dutch energy.

For squads looking to balance competitive rugby with culture and nightlife, Utrecht is spot on. Fixtures, festivals, and a city built for fun — it’s no wonder so many touring teams choose Utrecht.
