Barcelona

Culture, competition, and coastal charm — Barcelona is a rugby tour destination that inspires on every level.

Where Rugby Meets the Mediterranean Spirit

Barcelona is a city that seems built for rugby tours — a place where competitive fixtures, world-class facilities, and unforgettable cultural experiences come together under the Mediterranean sun.

Our rugby base in the city is La Foixarda Rugby Complex on Montjuïc Hill, home of Barcelona Universitari Club (BUC). Steeped in history and surrounded by the legacy of the 1992 Olympics, this is where touring sides train, play, and often test themselves against strong local and representative Catalan teams. Don’t be fooled by the city’s laid-back charm — youth rugby here is fierce, skilful, and capable of catching out even seasoned squads.

Off the pitch, Barcelona is irresistible. Wander Gaudí’s dreamlike masterpieces — the soaring spires of the Sagrada Familia and colourful mosaics of Parc Güell — or lose yourself in the Gothic Quarter’s medieval streets. Recharge on the golden sands of Barceloneta Beach, enjoy tapas feasts in lively bodegas, or take in the city views from Montjuïc. By night, Barcelona’s energy shifts up another gear, with rooftop terraces, beach bars, and clubs that make post-match celebrations unforgettable.

For those seeking more, we also offer exciting options outside the city. Salou and Cambrils provide all the benefits of a Barcelona tour with a resort-style twist. In Cambrils, the state-of-the-art Mediterranean Sports Village makes it the perfect base for squads looking to add a performance and training camp element.

Barcelona blends rugby intensity with cultural vibrancy like nowhere else — the perfect stage for memories that last long after the final whistle.

Key Information

The Rugby Experience

Rugby in Spain is exploding. The country did qualify for both the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups, but sadly, administrative errors saw them eliminated before a ball was kicked.

The game at Youth Level is highly impressive & the top teams in Barcelona will offer a stern test to the best of the game from the traditional rugby playing countries.

The facility at BUC Rugby on Montjuic is set in the shadows of the Olympic Stadium & is a magnificent base to prepare for your tour games. BUC themselves, along with FC Barcelona Rugby, Sant Cugat, Santboiana and others are all progressive clubs offering great opposition and wonderful facilities.

It isn't all elite though, there are a number of junior clubs in the city who can offer a competitive match at all levels.
