What separates a rugby tour from a great rugby tour?
Away from the major items of accommodation, transport, meals & your all-important rugby games, there are a few finer-touches we add to our trips that often transform it from a good tour, to a tour that will live long in the memory.
One of our main additions to a rugby experience can be the inclusion of an unique Pro-Experience, Guest Appearance, or Coaching Session.
The way we work is directly with the Pro-Players and Top Coaches themselves and we're proud to have welcomed some phenomenal athletes and great rugby people on tour with us since 2009 (See our pro-coaching XV for more!).
Alongside our rugby tour ambassadors, we have a network of players across our destination list who excel at adding a unique element to your tour, whether it be for a one-on-one coaching clinic, a Breakfast Q&A, a Pre-Match pep-talk or joining your court session to present the end of tour awards.
When it comes to getting behind the scenes of the professional game, in our opinion, many Pro-Clubs over charge and under deliver on this front. Anyone can stick on a 1st Team hoody, put some cones out and run some 19th Century Auckland Grids. That said, some clubs do offer wonderful opportunities and we're delighted to work closely with the likes of Sale Sharks, Bath Rugby & Worcester Warriors in making these a reality for our touring teams.
Adding match tickets, a stadium tour or or pre-match experience, when possible, is a must.
From Tickets to International Games in the Six Nations & Autumn Internationals right down to watching a local club match, adding in the chance to see a game on the tour goes together like, well, Rugby & Touring.
At the top-end of the Game, we have regular access to International Match tickets in Rome, Paris & Edinburgh. Pro-Club games in the Premiership, Premier 15’s, French Top 14, Guinness Pro14 & inter-European competitions are also readily available.
One thing we like to recommend is taking in club rugby matches, whether it be a Division de Honor match in Spain, or tickets to an Eccellenza match in Italy. Often, the relaxed undertone, cheaper beer & rugby club atmosphere is a worthy alternative.
Adding a Stadium Tour to your itinerary works well too. An ideal pre-match itinerary filler which generally doesn’t impact the fundraising too much. The Stadia with Museums are definitely worth a look. The Principality Stadium in Cardiff is our favourite, followed closely by Twickenham, The World Rugby Museum and the indomitable home of Scottish Rugby at Murrayfield. Iconic club grounds such as The Rec in Bath, Cardiff Arms Park & Ernest Wallon in Toulouse are a must see too – the tradition and history just inspires.
For us, anyone can book flights, hire a coach or set up a couple of fixtures. But it's creating a unique rugby experience that makes a rugby tour a great rugby tour.
Since 2009 this element of touring has been at the heart of everything The Rugby Tour Specialists do.
We're forever on the lookout for opportunities to better our offering and are passionate about enhancing the rugby experience on future tours to come.
