Five Rugby Tours That WILL work in 2021

There is a definite spring in the step with the return to Rugby & the prospect of the light at the end of the tunnel getting closer by the week.

It's great to be back!

There is a definite spring in the step with the return to Rugby & the prospect of the light at the end of the tunnel getting closer by the week.

I hope the pitches at your club were full this week & the sound of silence is replaced with laughter and enjoyment.

Look, we're not daft. We know the mammoth work ahead for club leaders to safely get the return to play off and away. We've been way down priority lists, rightly so, for a year now, respect the challenges clubs face & don't want to be those irritating buggers selling unbuyable products.

As and when the time is right, we'd love to speak with you about your travel plans! There is no better way to Engage, Enthuse & Bring People Together than touring.

Ahead of the RFU announcement on 9th April relating to Summer Rugby & then the wider Government note on Travel on 12th April, we're like a coiled spring ready to go.

If you'd like to get the team away in 2021, whether it be a refresher, a celebration, a training camp or a good old knees up, then the five Tour Packages below can be made to match. All local, all Covid secure & all including some special X-Factors on and off the pitch. The time will come when we can dust off passports & hop on Flights and Ferries, but for now, we feel these will be ideal.

When the Rugby World Restarts, we'll be Ready.

1. York

A rugby tour for all ages. The grand old City of York is one of our favourites.

Founded in 71 AD, York is located at the meeting of the Ouse and Foss rivers and became a strategic Northern stronghold, passing through the hands of the Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans respectively.

However, this is not just a city of history. The presence of York University means that it is a lively mix of the old and the new. There are plenty of excellent shops, bars, clubs and restaurants and weary travellers can spend their afternoon in one of the city's excellent tea rooms or coffee shops, while the evenings offer West End shows at North England prices, or some good English pub grub.

2. Lake District

A rural rugby tour that can be tailored for active, yet affordable mini & junior tours, pre-season camps and end-of-season social tours.

The northwest of England plays host the country's most spectacular playground - the Lake District. Stretching across nearly 1000 square miles of beautiful rolling Lakeland countryside, the Cumbrian national park is a fantastic touring destination for groups of all sizes, ages, abilities and disciplines - 10 million visitors every year cannot be wrong.

The Lake District is a fantastic tour destination for a lot of different teams. For youth teams looking to get to one with nature, for senior teams looking for a bit of pre-season training or teambuilding.

3. Bath

Stood pitch side at The Rec, with your back to the River Avon, looking to your left at the Rugby Posts, old clubhouse, Pulteney Bridge & Georgian Terraces, you face one of English Rugby’s most iconic sights. If there is a capital city of Rugby in England, it is here.

The fact that Bath is, in our opinion, the country’s most beautiful city too, gives two unsurpassable reasons to consider the city as your next tour base. Away from matchdays on The Rec, Bath Rugby hang their hat at the opulent Farleigh House Estate. This majestic Georgian mansion is the most spectacular rugby facility we have seen in Europe. The original walled garden is now a half-size 3G set-piece training pitch, the outbuildings house a powerlifters paradise & the old towers of the mansion now hosts the state-of-the-art nerve centre of English Rugby’s most successful club.

You can visit the manor for a coaching experience, tour, lectures on training & many more possibilities besides. With Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Dorset & Wiltshire all in easy distance of Bath, your touring opposition will be clubs from the core of English Rugby’s most traditional & historic heartland.

4. Newcastle

A fantastic rugby tour for teams of all ages. We may be slightly biased about our home City but show us a rugby tourist who leaves here disappointed and we'll admit defeat.

Arguably the greatest city on earth. You'll not be surprised to hear Newcastle is our home patch. We live, work and play our rugby in the city & have hosted more tours here than in any other location, so you can look forward to a tremendous experience in The Toon.

We thoroughly believe that on the eighth day, the Good Lord put an axis into the ground in Newcastle City Centre and declared that the World shall revolve around this magnificent place for eternity.

We may be slightly biased about our fantastic home city, but show me a person who leaves here disappointed and we'll admit defeat. Newcastle possesses a vibrant atmosphere like no other. Whether it be by day on the bustling hives of Northumberland Street and Grey Street, or at night on the World Class Quayside.

5. Edinburgh

A must for the Rugby Tourist. We've sent more Rugby Teams to Edinburgh than any other destination. No other city lends itself to tours of all ages like the Scottish Capital.

Exceptional Edinburgh sits atop our list as the #1 Rugby Tour destination in the UK. The city is as exciting as it is beautiful, and offers rugby teams of all ages highlight after highlight

The Rugby Experience available with Sky High Sports in this world-class city is second to none.

For a training venue, you can choose between Edinburgh Academi- cals RFC - one of the cities oldest clubs & the venue of the first Scotland Vs England match, or, Oriam, the state of the art high-performance centre opened in 2017. Oriam is the home of the Scottish Rugby Team & boasts Europe’s first full-sized indoor Rugby pitch.

For Guest Coaches, our past coaches read like a ‘who’s-who’ of Scottish Rugby. Internationals Tim Visser, David Denton, Mat Scott, Hamish Watson, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne & Ben Toolis have all coached and met with our touring teams in recent years.

Once you’ve practiced and played, you’ll be ready to take your seat and watch. Tickets to Edinburgh Rugby matches at Myreside or Scotand Internationals at Murrayfield are readily available. A visit to Murrayfield in any guise is a recommended inclusion - it is a pure rugby ground like no other.

Away from the Rugby, the city is spectacular. A city-centre like no other combines the stunning old-town with a lively and cosmopolitan new town. All accessible from your accommodation, the city is safe, secure & offers much to fill in free time. We highly recommend the highland games themed day, the after-dark ghost tour of the old town.
