Den Haag Rugby Tours

We sent more tourists here than anywhere else in 2019 & the results were exceptional.

Introducing: Den Haag

Easily put, Den Haag is Amsterdam with-out the head-aches. Our favourite destination in the Netherlands, The Hague is a busy mix of ancient & regal buildings intertwined with commerce, business and ambition.

The town unfolds like a Hans Christian Anderson fairytale & the streets unveil mystery and charm.

A short drive from Den Haag brings you to Scheveningen, a glorious beach-resort looking out on the North Sea. The huge beach is home to numerous bars & restaurants, a beach sports stadium & numerous activities.

Haagsche Rugby Club & the Springbok Bar are your hosts here, two exceptional rugby venues. Our link with the South-West Rugby Academy (RAZW) means we can pitch your games to a very high level.

Top 5: Den Haag

1. Scheveningen for Powerboating & Beach BBQ's

2. The Springbok Rugby-Theme Bar

3. Very Italian Pizza & Twins Beach Club Restaurants

4. Ice Karting, Curling, Indoor Skiing, Human Table-Football & Sumo Wrestling

5. Fixtures with Rugby Club Haagsche at the South West Rugby Academy

Key Information

The Rugby

The Dutch are the best hosts in Europe. What is more, they can now back up their skill off the pitch with their skill on it. We have sent some good teams to the Netherlands on Tour who have returned with much different thoughts on Dutch Rugby.

In 2019, we ran more tours to Den Haag than anywhere else. The local club, RC Haagsche are one of the stronger clubs in the Netherlands & their close like with the South West Rugby Academy (RAZW) gives strong touring teams legitimate opposition.

Nearby, excellent clubs like Gouda, Castricum, Harlem & The Dukes have hosted our touring sides with aplomb in recent seasons. The Dukes in particular have exceeded even our expectations this year.

Heading into 2021, Den Haag will be up there.

By Sea

Newcastle to Amsterdam

For those fortunate to live in the North of England, we'll collect you in an executive coach and transfer you to North Shields Ferry Terminal. From here, DFDS Seaways offer daily overnight crossings to Amsterdam. Often sighted as a real highlight of tours to Northern Europe, the DFDS crossing is superb fun.

You'll spend the night in 2-berth and 4-berth Cabins, enjoy an all-you-can-eat dinner & breakfast, enjoy live Music on the Stage and in the Troubadour bar. It may be the highlight of the tour!

On arrival in Holland, you'll be in the destination in no time.

Dover to Calais & Dunkirk

For those in the South, you'll travel by executive coach from your club to Dover Ferry Terminal before sailing to Calais or Dunkirk. A short 90-minute hop over the channel will have you in Belgium in no time at all. Great value for money - the difference in price between staying in the UK & hopping across to Europe is minimal.

Once you're back on land, it is go go go to your location.

By Air

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is one of the major hubs in Europe with great links to budget and chartered airlines across the globe. Given the traffic that passes through the airport, flights to Amsterdam are generally cheap.

From Schiphol, the superb road network in the Netherlands means you can be at any one of our Dutch & Belgian locations in next to no time.

Cheap & Cheerful

Across the Netherlands, the StayOkay chain offer some exceptional low-cost venues which are ideal for touring sides. Their venue in Den Haag is no different. The staff know our groups well & can host accordingly.

The on-site bar and restaurant offer ample refreshment, while its location in the south of the city centre can have you amidst the highlights in minutes.

Rooms are basic, yet comfortable, spacious and clean. En-Suite bathrooms are available.

Something Flash

The Ibis Hotel in the heart of Den Haag offers a little more creature comfort than the Hostel down the road. Comfortable, twin-bed, en-suite rooms, a cooked breakfast, Hotel Bar and a location which couldn't be better.

In Scheveningen, we have a similar option located on the beach. An ideal alternative later in the season when the weather is warmer & the busy resort bursts into life.
