Forming a Tour Committee

Many hands make light work. Knowledge is Power. Strength in Numbers. Cliche's aside, without a committed few, not many tours get past the idea stage. Here is our guide to forming a crack squad of tour experts.

Laying the Foundations for an Unforgettable Rugby Tour

Organising a rugby tour is no small feat, it takes vision, teamwork, and a bit of courage.

Whether you’re a volunteer stepping up solo or an experienced organiser, the best tours start with building a solid support team.

At Sky High Sports, we’ve seen that forming a tour committee isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

Taking on everything alone can quickly become overwhelming. By sharing responsibilities, you lighten the load, tap into different strengths, and make the process more enjoyable for everyone. Even if you’re the driving force behind the trip, having a few trusted helpers ensures nothing gets missed and everyone stays motivated.

In this section, we’ll guide you through assembling your committee, highlighting key roles like Tour Leader, Fundraiser, Admin Team, and Health & Safety Officer.

You’ll also see how your Sky High Sports contact is always on hand, think of us as your remote committee member, ready to support you every step of the way.

A great rugby tour starts with a great team. Let’s lay the foundations for your next unforgettable adventure.

The Tour Committee

The Tour Leader

Every great tour needs a strong leader. This is your chief decision-maker, the person who will keep things moving, make the tough calls, and ensure the whole group stays on track. Often, this is the coach, manager, or someone who thrives under pressure and isn’t afraid of responsibility.

The Fundraiser

Raising funds is crucial. Appoint a dedicated Fundraiser, someone energetic, creative, and relentlessly organised. Their mission: secure sponsorships, run events, and keep everyone focused on meeting the budget. The more imaginative, the better.

The Administration Team

Behind every smooth tour is a rock-solid admin team. Two or three detail-oriented people should handle payments, insurance, permissions, and all the nitty-gritty paperwork. From collecting shirt sizes to tracking passport details, this team keeps the wheels turning.

The Kit Man

Don’t underestimate the logistics of kit and equipment. Your Kit Manager ensures every player is kitted out and ready to go, no last-minute panics.
Be the team’s guardian on tour. As Health & Safety & Safeguarding Officer, you’ll ensure every player’s welfare is the top priority, before, during, and after your rugby adventure. Your job is to create a safe, supportive environment where everyone can focus on the rugby and the experience, knowing all risks are managed and every child or young person is fully protected.
